Frequently asked questions
Your first visit is all about getting to know you and your body. We’ll take the time to understand what’s been happening so we can tailor your treatment perfectly to your needs.
We’ll discuss your health history, areas of concern, and your goals for treatment. For remedial or myotherapy sessions, we may do a brief postural or movement assessment to better understand what’s going on.
You’ll then relax on the table while we begin your tailored remedial massage or myotherapy session.
At the end, we’ll chat about what we found, how your body responded, and simple things you can do at home to support your results like stretches, hydration, or posture tips.
Myotherapy is a form of manual therapy that focuses on assessing, treating, and managing musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. It targets the cause of pain rather than just the symptoms, using a combination of hands-on techniques such as deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, dry needling, cupping, joint mobilisation, stretching, and corrective exercise.
At Bodyworx Myotherapy, we help you move better, recover faster, and stay pain-free — because we believe Movement is Medicine.
Relaxation Massage (also known as Swedish massage) is designed to calm the body and mind. It uses smooth, flowing techniques with lighter pressure to promote circulation, reduce stress, and help you unwind. It’s perfect for general wellbeing and tension relief.
Remedial Massage goes deeper — it focuses on identifying and treating specific areas of pain, injury, or restricted movement. Techniques such as deep tissue work, trigger point therapy, and stretching are used to help repair muscles, improve mobility, and restore function.
At Bodyworx Massage and Myotherapy, Relaxation Massage helps you feel good, while Remedial Massage helps you move well.
Cupping is a therapy that uses suction cups to gently lift the skin and underlying tissue. This helps increase blood flow, reduce muscle tension, and promote healing.
At Bodyworx Myotherapy, we often use silicone or plastic cups as part of a remedial or myotherapy treatment to release tight muscles, improve movement, and support recovery. You may notice light circular marks afterward — these are not bruises, but a normal response as blood and oxygen flow to the treated area.
Cupping is a safe and effective way to ease tension, enhance performance, and speed up recovery.
Dry Needling is a targeted technique used to release muscle tension and reduce pain. It involves inserting very fine, sterile needles into trigger points (tight knots within the muscle) to help relax the area, improve blood flow, and restore normal movement.
Unlike acupuncture, which is based on traditional Chinese medicine, dry needling is grounded in modern anatomy and pain science. It’s commonly used in remedial massage and myotherapy to relieve chronic tightness, assist recovery from injury, and improve overall function.
At Bodyworx Myotherapy, dry needling is used alongside other hands-on techniques to help you move better and feel your best — because Movement is Medicine.
